On 2 April 2026, Elevate Her Uganda carried out a deeply impactful charity outreach across the greater Ankole districts in Western Uganda, reaching one of the most often forgotten groups in our communities: the elderly.
Led by the Executive Director, Mrs. Loice Natukunda Otafiire, the initiative was driven by compassion, empathy and a strong commitment to restoring dignity among senior citizens. Dozens of elderly people received essential bedding, including mattresses, bedsheets and bedcovers: simple yet life-changing necessities that many had gone without for years.
For many of them, this support was more than material aid. It was a message that they are seen, valued and remembered. The joy and gratitude on their faces spoke volumes about the difference such kindness makes. In communities where elderly people often struggle with neglect and poor living conditions, the outreach brought renewed hope, comfort and a sense of belonging.
A moral duty
Mrs. Loice Natukunda Otafiire emphasised that caring for the elderly is not just a responsibility but a moral duty for every compassionate society. She reaffirmed Elevate Her Uganda’s commitment to designing and carrying out programmes that uplift vulnerable groups, especially women and the elderly.
