A sustainable income, steps from home
For rural women in Western Uganda, a backyard flock is a business that fits around the rest of life. We provide the training, the resources and the support, and women take charge of their economic futures.
The birds bring in income, improve families’ nutrition and lift their overall well-being. With an 85% success rate in Ruhinda County, the project is ready to be replicated across the country, given the funding to do it.

Two seasons, one growing flock

Ruhinda: training and equipment
Women gather on a school field for training and collect feeders and drinkers for their first flocks.

Day-old chicks for every woman
Boxes of chicks are signed for and carried home, followed by training under the tents and visits to homesteads.

Across the country
With funding, the model moves to new districts, one community at a time.
They supported me with capital to boost my poultry farm. I now have 300 layers.
