On 5 April 2025, Mitooma District witnessed a groundbreaking moment as Elevate Her Uganda was officially launched at Ruhinda SS grounds. The event drew prominent figures, including Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, who graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.
H.E. Frederiek Quispel, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Uganda, and Hon. Jane Ruth Achieng, Minister for Health, added international and local flavour to the event. Hon. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Kahinda Otafiire, Minister for Internal Affairs and area Member of Parliament, hosted the launch, flagging off the journey to empower women across Uganda.
The ceremony brought together community leaders, religious leaders, civil society organisations and the general public, all united in their quest for women’s empowerment. This milestone marks a new chapter in promoting gender equality and uplifting women in Uganda.

The launch gave women a platform to share their experiences, challenges and aspirations. By creating a space for dialogue and engagement, Elevate Her Uganda aims to address the unique needs and concerns of women, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
