Privacy Policy

How Elevate Her Uganda collects, uses and protects the personal information you share with us through this website.

Who we are

This website is run by Elevate Her Uganda, a non-profit organisation at Plot 19 Rosebank Place, Mbuya, P.O. Box 148809, Kampala, Uganda. When this policy says “we”, it means Elevate Her Uganda. You can reach us at info@elevateherug.org or on +256 763 980 360.

We handle personal information in line with Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us:

Contact form: your name, organisation, email address, phone number and message.
Volunteer application: your name, phone number, email address, how you would like to help, what you tell us about yourself, and your agreement to be contacted about volunteering.
Emails and calls: whatever you include when you write to us or call us.

Like most websites, the server also records technical information such as your IP address and the pages you request, to keep the site secure and working.

How we use it

To reply to your message or application and follow up with you.
To arrange volunteering, partnerships or gifts you have asked us about.
To keep the website secure, for example by blocking repeated failed log-in attempts.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Donations

Donations are made on Flutterwave’s secure donation page, not on this website. Flutterwave collects the payment details needed to process your gift under its own privacy policy. We receive the details of your donation from Flutterwave so we can record it and thank you.

Who can see it

Messages and applications are stored in this website’s administration area and emailed to the Elevate Her Uganda team. Only staff who need them to respond can see them. Our website host stores the site’s data on our behalf.

Other services on this site

Some parts of the site use other services, which may receive your IP address and set their own cookies:

Google Maps, on the contact page. The map only loads once you allow functional cookies (see Cookies below).
GTranslate and Google Translate, if you choose another language from the menu. The text of the page is then sent to Google to be translated.
WhatsApp, if you use the chat button. It opens a conversation with us in WhatsApp, and what you send there is handled by WhatsApp under its own privacy policy. We see your phone number, name and messages so we can reply.
Google Fonts and the jsDelivr network, which deliver the site’s fonts and icons.
Links to our Instagram, X and YouTube pages, if you follow them.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. When you first visit, we ask which ones you accept.

Necessary cookies are always on, because the site needs them: one remembers your cookie choice for six months, one remembers the language you pick (only if you pick one), and WordPress sets sign-in cookies only for staff who log in to manage the site.
Functional cookies stay off until you turn them on. They let the Google map on our contact page load, and Google may then set cookies of its own.

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie button in the bottom-left corner of every page, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

How long we keep it

We keep messages and applications for as long as we need them to respond, to work with you as a volunteer or partner, or to meet legal obligations, and then delete them.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to info@elevateherug.org and we will respond as soon as we can. You also have the right to complain to Uganda’s Personal Data Protection Office.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the website changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
